I am 36-years-old. How much SIP should I do in a month to accumulate a corpus of 6 crores in 20 years?
Don't arrive at a corpus value for your retirement - This is a wrong way to arrive at corpus value. You should target a higher number. Aim for at least 10 crores+ after 20 yrs
As a SEBI Regd Investment Adviser and Qualified Financial Advisor with 1Finance , I ll share my views and present you facts about retirement corpus
To answer this question , I have assumed 3 different monthly expenses of 80k , 1lac and 1.2 lac at 8.5% post tax returns and inflation at 6% and life expectancy at 85.
The corpus required at age of 60 with 1 lacs monthly expenses currently and inflation adjusted is roughly around 8.2 cr + at age 56.
You need as per the monthly SIP with 10% Step up - the amount is 50k monthly . On the safe side , I will say invest more than 50k monthly just for retirement planning . Keep a watch on lifestyle expenses , ensure good health cover and invest aggressively for children education also.
Other long term goals not added ( like emergency , children education ..) ; also lifestyle expenses may increase.
( NOTE: Health care plan should already be taken , this corpus does not include long term goals such as home purchase and children future goals)
SIP calculator in terms of years (annual compounding)
Years to goal - 20
Amount you can save/invest each month -50000
Net rate of return (annual) -13.00%
Annual increase in monthly invest. % -10.00%
Corpus you will accumulate - 10.83 cr
You can follow the aggressive or moderate strategy as per your risk profile but looking at current market environment- opt for conservative
